I've cabinets full of stashed art supplies. And truth be told, sometimes I just never get around touching certain items. But my kids love to go through my cabinets and this time they discovered my coffee filters.
I don't drink coffee. But these filters are great for all kinds of projects. Of course, First Art offers some great ideas. Here's one we tried with success:
Materials Needed:
-coffee filters
-water-based markers (Thanks to Mel for my bounty supply!) or alternatively, jars with water and several drops of food dye and eye droppers
-a small bowl of water with a paintbrush or more fun, a spray bottle!
-newspapers or any scrap paper to put under the filters because it will get wet!
Procedure:
If you opt to use markers, just have the kiddos draw on the filters. Afterward, spray the drawing with the water spray bottle or use a wet paint brush to blend the colors.
My kids love the spray bottle, but I have to admit that it was hard for Cheeky, aged 2 to spray on target. My friend told me that she found a small toddler-sized spray bottle at a local drug store that I am definitely going to look for. Not to mention, they almost spray all the colors out until they just soak into the paper. Kind of defeats the purpose, but the kids love the process!
If you use the jars with water and a few drops of food dye, just use the eyedroppers to blend the colors. I would recommend to have at least two different colors.

LOL! I should have taken some of those droppers when I had the chance!
What a great idea.
Well, you could still just use cleaned medicine droppers from baby tylenol...or does baby bear not use that anymore?
