Easter Baskets and Little Alouette

I've actually almost completed the Easter baskets today. Could it be that I'm actually a little ahead of schedule for once in my life? This is, by the way, the first time I prepared Easter baskets for my kiddos.

I bought these sweet wicker baskets at a thrift store last week and I plan on shredding green construction paper for the grass. Today, I purchased a few trinkets--a prism, maple rhythm sticks, two adorable tin eggs, and two wooden kazoos at a local toy store. Needless to say, I was disappointed that they didn't have any of Little Alouette's teethers or the egg shakers I wanted! But the owner promised to look into their goodies soon. And when Fawn and Forest and Little Alouette were both out of stock, I pretty much gave up...until I looked at Crafty Crow and found out that Cassi is giving away one of these darling eggs! Ha, ha, ha. Not that I'll win, but who knows?

Then I went to a health store and picked up natural jelly beans and natural version of chocolate m&m's and bought miniature glee gum and chocolates for the tin eggs. Next year, I would like to make pom-pom chicks as well. Maybe next year, I can convince myself to buy these expensive Lake Champlain rabbits Soule Mama's children adore. But $15.50 for one rabbit? Urgh.

While we're on the subject of Easter, Shannon has been a lifesaver with all her Easter plans. You need to check her Easter post and imagine my delight when I saw her recent link to these Easter rolls! I totally want to do that this year...or next. I also would like to either dye eggs with natural dye, or try melting crayons on hot eggs. And if you want to try something new, miycreations has oodles of egg ideas. Not to mention, Crafty Crow where I found these egg-citing sites in the first place.

Koko is totally interested in the resurrection story this year. She asks intriguing questions about the reason behind the crucifixion and is excited that Jesus is alive and in heaven. Sometimes she yells, "Hi Jesus! I love you!" to the ceiling and then immediately looks at me and asks, "He does hear me, right?"

Edited to add: I hope to use Annie's Resurrection Eggs next year!
