Help Save Handmade Toys

It seems like Melissa and Doug has a mixed bag. Yes, the previous recall in Canada might not have affected U.S. residents, but apparently some of their toys contain lead. Katy Faber, from Non-toxic Kids plugged in her Melissa and Doug toys in this informative toy safety website to check on the status of some of her toys and found many to be toxic. Fortunately, all the M&D toys that I have in my home tested to be safe. And the wooden play food that I recommended for baby bear is safe as well. Phew! I apologize about having to go on about Melissa and Doug. I hope this will be my last post ever mentioning their company.

In any case, my recommendation is to boycott Melissa and Doug for future purchases and to stock up on wooden toys handmade from reputable toys makers like Selecta because legislature (information on how to write a letter of protest is included here) is making many of the small companies that make wooden toys close down. And then, please write a letter of protest to your congressman!
