Late June-July

We watched with fascination as the Monarch caterpillars become chrysalises and are observing them as each become butterflies.

This summer the girls and I are having a  Jenny and the Cat Club series read-a-thon and now we are almost done! I erroneously thought Jenny and the Cat Club consisted of only a few books, but was pleasantly surprised to find out there were more! We are looking forward to reading Jenny's Bedside Book, which is unfortunately  the only book out-of-print, but thankfully, still available through interlibrary loans.

We went strawberry picking for the first time. Since Husband didn't approve of the strawberries I picked, I was designated as official photographer. Husband and Koko picked diligently while Cheeky and Eggy just ate and ate.  And since I have not ventured yet into the world of canning, we made strawberry ice cream which was delicious!

The cold and rainy days have pushed us to have more time indoors.  I love watching all the kids scribble and play make-believe. Monsters and princesses are huge here. (Most of my girls' friends are boys and hence, the monster theme.) The hundreds board suddenly had a revival with both girls, and K and I are having fun with the Miquon math lab book.  She finds it amusing to write answers with different coloring pencils and making up her own problems as well as altering original math exercises. Cheeky and Eggy love playing with the rods that you're supposed to have with the books. (Thanks, Shannon.)

I am so excited about this new Korean series mentioned here. It kind of reminds me of Richard Scarry's books. These Korean books would have been a great help for me to learn Korean when I was a kid!

I am loving watching the fireflies flickering outside. But where are the cicadas?

I am finally finished with all those harsh antibiotics to treat h pylori and hoping to feel better soon.

I read Heaven is For Real and was moved. I am usually skeptical about these so-called accounts of heaven, but this four year old's account seems very real. My husband also strongly encouraged me to listen to this testimony and I can see why.

Happy July!
