Small Changes

I was always scatter-brained, but motherhood has made me more. I go to a room to fetch something and often I ask myself, "Why am I here?" But implementing a few small changes is helping me stay more grounded. That, and a menu plan with a unified shopping list versus pieces of paper scattered everywhere. If only I didn't forget to bring the shopping list with me to the store. Ha!

An accessible space just for the children's bowls, cutting boards, cups, and silverware. Koko was upset that Ahpa put the bread machine there. This is a bottom cabinet with a door. I know I am going to have to change the location once the baby is more mobile.

I have a hard time cleaning up after meals. But leaving a basin with soapy water for them to scrub and clean their plates and bowls after meals helps me get motivated and they enjoy doing it, too! I probably need to get another basin for them to rinse their dishes, but for now, I just drag the basin to the sink and rinse away.

I'm trying to get back to bread making. I made a simple cheese bread that didn't require kneading and the kids were so disappointed! So, I'm aiming to have a bread/pizza crust day once a week in the Waldorf tradition so they get all the kneading experiences they need. Sorry for the pun.

Beautiful pictures, and great post (and congratulations on your baby boy - how wonderful!).

Where do you get your information on the Waldorf method?

Thanks!

Mmm... pizza(/)bread! But, yeah... Short of having kids -- and any other diners -- load the dishwasher themselves, soaking 'n' scrubbing for a manual wash is the next best thing. Congrats on that first (& awesome) step!

Ha, ha... I forgot to comment on your forgetfulness! I've found myself forgetting stuff more often these days, but that's probably as much a consequence of multitasking as it is of aging. (And I'm sure you've got a lot on your mind with three -- or four -- folks trying to get your attention.) Making shopping lists can be beneficial for saving time and money, though.

I went grocery shopping today and forgot my list as well! And I only have one child!

What a great idea for pizza making! I might have to find a gluten free mix to try it as well. And what fun to try different toppings. My yimo in Korea made super veggie and kimchee pizza which was yummy!

Finishing my pepperoni-seng-cheh pizza (derived from Little Caesars & kimchi) right now. I just need mine Hot-n-Ready, thassall... Any better pies to be had in MI?

Nah, nothing beats Lou Malnati's. However, Papa Murray ain't that bad.

They make it fresh and you have to put it in the oven! When you're better, come visit us with the Kims. If you can endure the chaos!

Oh, man... dunno about a (relatively) long road trip, but the offer's certainly appreciated. At any rate, I hope you've got your pizza stone ready then!

Someone left a comment in Chinese or some other foreign language. I can't read Chinese so I couldn't approve it. If you don't mind, resubmit your comment in English...
