Just for fun, we measured a gummi bear (I actually traced the actual shape on paper and then submerged it in water in a glass bottle. The next day, we took it out, dried it lightly, and traced it again to see how big it got. When you take it out, it works best to dump the water on your hand and "catch" the gummi gently because it is so fragile. Good thing I did this for both of the girls because one totally fell apart when I used tongs.
Why it
expands.
For
older kids and another explanation on expansion. And how timely! Skip to My Lou just posted on how to make
homemade gummi bears!

I've been reading
Little House in the Woods out loud sporadically (I have to censor some portions because my Koko is sensitive) and we were inspired to pick up some snow outside and melt it in a pot like they did in the book for their baths. Except we didn't bathe in the water. We simply just observed how ice turned into water. I was going to take the water outside so they could see it freeze again, but I think my husband washed it. Though I do want to make these
colored ice ornaments next week.
If only we always had fun in our house! There have been more difficult moments mothering these three beauties these days. I'm struggling with patience and am trying to cling more closely to Jesus. Please pray for me whenever you think of me.

I'm sure that three young children/infants can be quite the handful... so don't sweat it if you don't get to the homemade gummi bears anytime soon! Mmm, government explanations of gummi expansion... but, yeah... I'll be prayin' for ya!
Thanks Dan for your prayers. I hope you're feeling better, too.
