So, I finally got around to making a hundreds board. One Montessori directress told me how she was able to find one inch by one inch ceramic mosaic tiles with a grid a while back. Unfortunately, I went to many a store to find out that white ceramic tiles are no longer in popular demand so are not often in stock. Though I know that some places might special order them for you! In addition, they don't make grids anymore but have the tiles glued to some mesh weave.
I finally found some ceramic tiles at a store that only sells tiles that are bigger than one inch, but still work for my purpose. I know that glass mosaic tiles are easier to find, but when I inquired about them, it turns out that they break very easily so I truly do not recommend them. The weave backing is a pain to take off, but if you don't cut through the weave to separate individual tiles, but just remove the tiles from the backing one by one, you'll have better success. I used a permanent marker to write the numbers.
As for the grid, I am using a unused and clean pizza box for now! Koko wants me to buy more tiles so that she can make shapes with them! To download a paper hundreds board, look at Jo's from A Bit of This and That!
Edited to add: I would like to make a compartmentalized box to keep all the tiles separate in stacks of ten, but for now, I use a small basket to hold ten at a time, and store the others in piles of ten in a big box. After Koko finishes ten, I put ten more inside the basket.
