Book Review: What's Inside Your Tummy, Mommy?

My oldest instantly gravitated towards this book, What's Inside Your Tummy, Mommy? in the library and insisted I "buy" it for her. I had a quick look at the pictures and had to grin as I popped this in the stroller to check out.

This is definitely a kid-friendly book that is simple, informative, and filled with enough fun and amazing facts to satisfy even the most curious preschooler. I was actually surprised at how well the author describes the womb. She did a better job than I could have possibly, even if I tried!

For every month, there's an explanation of how the baby looks and some basic description of what is going on inside the womb at that particular time. At every month, there's also an comparison of what the baby's size size is in perspective to common things a preschooler would be familiar with. For example, in month one, the baby is described as being smaller than a grain of rice.
And there's a picture to go with every month's size description of the baby!

By nine months, there's a baby ready to come out!

I think this is a great visual nine-month guide for young children to have and look over as they marvel over the miracle in their mother's bellies. I am ashamed to admit this, but there were some facts that even though I had poured over pregnancy books during my previous pregnancies, I had either forgotten or somehow glossed over.

And yeah, just in case you were wondering, I am pregnant. I'm still only 11 weeks, but after having two positive ultrasounds, I am hoping for the best. I know that I had two full-term pregnancies, but after having miscarried in my first pregnancy, I am always a little anxious during the first trimester. Please keep me in your prayers.

And if you have another kid-geared pregnancy book that you would recommend, please let me know.

I'm feeling a little sick, but it's not too bad. As long as I eat before I get hungry, I don't throw up. I'm gaining a lot of weight...very fast.

Thanks for the review. I'll have to look into this one. We've enjoyed "Waiting for Baby" by Harriet Zeifert and Emily Bolam.
