More Montessori-Inspired Activities

I did purchase some sensory and mathematical equipment from IFIT because I think some things are hard to replicate. But my friend did help me with geography. She actually purchased these very simple identical posters and went through the trouble to cut out all the continents. I laminated most of them. Somehow I forgot one. Anyway, this is Cocoa's makeshift puzzle world map.

My friend also bought Koko her sandpaper letters, but I made some Korean "sandpaper letters" with glitter glue. Korean has many different strokes, so I cut out her work sheet letters that had the strokes numbered and made each stroke a different color. I was pleasantly surprised how the glitter was comparable to the sandpaper. Glitter glue is so EASY to work with, too!

Here's one closeup.

Finally, an age-old kid pastime. Not necessarily Montessori, but helpful for the pincer grasp nevertheless.

I stumbled upon your blog looking for Montessori toys and was pleasantly surprised that you were teaching your children Korean! I would love to do the same with our half Korean/Chinese daughter. Do you mind sharing where you got the print out for the letters? Thanks for sharing all the wonderful ideas!

KLC,

I actually got the letters from a Korean workbook that I just cut from, but for the vowels, I just wrote them myself with a pen and used a glitter glue pen to write on top of it. I hope this helps!

Thanks! Good idea! I may have to start a public site to share our homeschooling journeys as well.
