DIY Project with Kids: Homemade Ice Cream

You scream
I scream
We all scream
For ice cream.

I couldn't resist.

This would be a great project. Isn't it reminiscent of the making-butter-out-of -a-jar activity?

The best part is that besides the rock salt, everything should be on hand in the kitchen. Who would have thought you could make ice cream with two ziplock bags?

So that final instruction about washing it with cold water after removing the bag, does that mean just washing the bag or rinsing the actual ice cream (er, hardened milk) inside the bag (to get rid of the salt)? Never made ice cream myself, though I do remember ads for the Snoopy maker for home.

Oh, and here's a seriously more involved project: bacon ice cream. Whoo!
