30 Day Challenge: Going Shampoo Free

The idea of forgoing shampoo was intriguing. Imagine just using baking soda and apple cider vinegar to make your hair both healthy and manageable. It would also be dirt cheap!

So I tried it for 30 days. During those days my husband tolerated what he called a "bad smell" and my friends called "really greasy-looking hair" and what I felt was the nastiest waxiest hair I felt in my life.

But my scalp didn't itch like it normally did. And since I did read that there could be a detoxifying period that entailed much of the same symptoms that I was suffering with, I endured with hope that it would get better.

Maybe I wasn't using the "right" proportions of baking soda and/or ACV, but it never improved significantly.

I threw out the towel. I'm on the prowl for a natural shampoo that's non-toxic and does not have parabens and phthalates. Any suggestions?

Going by the title, I thought you were gonna say you were just gonna use conditioner for a month (and thus leave the shampoo out). Nice.

I just find it intriguing that throwing in the towel eventually led to throwing it out. (Ha, ha...!) Maybe it's best to see someone else's results -- in person -- before devoting 30 days to giving it a try?
