I chanced upon Digging for Dinosaurs (Math Adventures) while looking up math storybooks. Geared for second and third graders, it explores many mathematical concepts in a fun way. You get to pretend to be a dinosaur expert and find dinosaur eggs, footprints, bones, and more and use them to calculate fun things such as dinosaur strides and number of horns in a Triceratops' display. The pictures of dinosaurs and fossils are interesting, the scenarios are semi- realistic, and the range of mathematical concepts comprehensive. I appreciated that there were many exercises in reading charts and graphs all throughout the book, but it didn't have a textbook feel. Best of all, my daughter was engaged the entire time.
Other titles in the MATH ADVENTURES series include:
Firefighters to the Rescue
Ocean Giants
Rocket to the Moon
Treasure Hunt in the Jungle
Zookeeper for a Day
