Thankful Tuesday

While looking for salamanders at the seminary's nature center (we saw one last week!), Koko found an adorable peeper. (No salamanders; we think they are ready to dig deeper to hide from the cold.)

Despite our squirrel feeder and purchase of a red light bulb (supposedly, that helps) we haven't had any flying squirrel sightings. But our kind neighbor (bless her heart) promised that she would call us when flying squirrels visited her home. And we're enjoying something new this year: seeing bats in the evening!

I had tooth concerns of my own, and my children had various scrapes that ended up with me calling the dentist and pediatrician, but to my utter relief, everything is okay. I am so grateful for nurses and doctors who reassure worried mamas and friends who laugh at my neurotic tendencies, and of course, to God who protects us even more than we can ever know.

Last year, I had a child who suddenly became fearful of many things. A year has passed and God has restored the child's heart and my own in so many ways, beyond my imagination. Thank you for all your prayers.

I think of my mortality and how limited my time is on earth. I thank God for my children who always ask about heavenly matters and remind me that it's eternity that truly counts. Lord, help me to count my days and live for your glory alone. The following lyrics has been on my mind a lot.
