Last week, Koko's loose tooth finally came out at bedtime. It was so tiny that I didn't believe it was her tooth at first. She decided not to put it under her pillow so she could show her dad in the morning and asked that I make a cake for her tooth party. I made a sweet red bean mochi cake and we sang, "Happy tooth day to you." I found my engagement ring box and placed her tooth there, but of course she took the tooth out and lost it. I thought she would be upset but having read One Morning in Maine day in and day out for weeks, she was thoroughly prepared for the possibility and exclaimed, "Just like Sal!" (Personally, I was conflicted how the father encouraged Sal not to cry so I had to counter how it really was okay and natural to cry.) I think I was more disappointed than her because I had heard how the tooth fairy had a little book present to give her, but Koko reminded me that another tooth is loose.
This Thanksgiving book has become a new holiday favorite. Now I have to learn how to do the conga line! I am also intrigued by Elise's recommendation of Outdoor Secrets.
Finally, all the children, including Eggy had marvelous fun doing 'ring around the rosy' together. I can't get over how he's now a little boy. I thank God for all his big and small blessings!
Happy Thanksgiving!
