We had so much fun making
butter as an Advent activity! I added a marble inside the glass jar because it's fun to hear the click clock while you're shaking. (Don't you remember doing this at Northtown Library?) And as it thickens, it gets harder to hear the marble. And right when I thought the thickened cream was as buttery as we could get, it separated to butter and buttermilk.
Using a sieve is so helpful!
Voila! Hurray for butter. My friend's cow is going to have a calf soon so I am hoping to see how they make butter with bulk quantities. Will they churn it like they did in
Little House on the Prairie?
