Cut, Paste, and Paint

Recently, I set up a cardboard box in the quiet room used to store their cuttings and scraps of paper for future art projects. Today was the first art project and I think Cheeky's first time with glue. I couldn't help but feel a little guilty...that poor deprived child.

So I set them up with scraps of paper, scissors, and glue. Cheeky must have thought the glue was paint. She was smearing it all over her hands but finally, with a little assistance, finished this collage above. I am planning to return to Susan Striker's Young at Art contact paper/sticker collages soon. She also loved squeezing the glue bottle. I am planning to redo the squeeze bottle art project soon so she can get squeeze to her heart's content.

Koko had this huge white paper to work with, but chose to make this small layered collage. I noticed she doesn't like her hands getting sticky, so she I gave her a paint brush to spread the glue.

Then they wanted to paint. Here's Cheeky painting/baptizing the paint scraper with her hands

Koko discovering that red and blue makes purple.
