Thankful Thursday

Upon asking the threesome what made them happy today, here is how they answered:

My husband: (a.k.a. turtle and tiger as my kids ride on his back) My wife made me challah bread. I am happy.

It wasn't that great, but he is far more enthusiastic about it than the sour bread (I read about it here) that has invaded my freezer.

Koko: Shopping.

Yes, Koko loves the sheer pleasure of going shopping with us. She doesn't get any special purchase of her own, but on this frigid day,, however, both Koko and Cheeky had the special treat to go on the one cent horse ride in the grocery store and the adults had free Starbucks' coffee and brownie samples. Meijer, you rock.

Cheeky: Buku (my mom's dog)

Go figure.
-----------------------

On Saturday, we went outside to see the "biggest moon of the year" and when we returned in, Cheeky rushed to our bedroom window and said, "Moon." When informed that she couldn't see the moon from our particular corner, she wailed, "Moon!" with great heaving sobs. I can't believe at 22 months she has such intense feelings. I guess I'm still am oblivious to the fact that she's not a baby anymore.

There are times I want to hold my breath when I see how utterly Koko adores me. I am sure to miss this devotion when she is a teenager. She loves to cuddle, read books on my lap, talk, and just be with me. During one of our before-we-sleep discussions, she told me, "Mom, I like you very much but sometimes I wish you would not scream when you're angry. Please speak to me in a nice voice. But apparently, I've been making progress. The other day, she told her dad, "Appa, even when you're angry, please don't yell, but talk nicely. Like mommy." Honey child, we all need Jesus.

She's also trying to process the Bible stories that she is hearing. She's puzzled about why David hit Goliath. One day, she grabbed her crayon rocks and called out to Cheeky saying, "Come on, we have to hit Goliath today." Oh, no.

She's still into animals and what they eat so we've been pouring over several animal encyclopedias lately. But she notified me that she didn't like whales because "sometimes they might eat people like Jonah and spit them out. " Incidentally, she loves lions because they roar.

Oh, a random tidbit for those Montessori mamas out there: I just heard about another Montessori blog that is so cool, especially if you have a three year old and a one year old like yours truly.

Some parentheses spacing issues in P2&3 and "tidbit" in the last P, but after reading about all the deals at local Meijers, I really wish there were one closer than the NW 'burbs of Chicago.
