Let me preface this review with this comment: Wow, this stuff smells fantastic!
TruKid was kind enough to send me travel-sized versions of their Silly Shampoo, Bubbly Body Wash, Cool Conditioner, and Dangling Detangler to review. After being so happy with their sunblocks, I had high expectations particularly for their hair line because seriously, it is hard to find a good smelling natural shampoo.
Their Silly Shampoo is mild, non-drying, spreads well and has super generous lather. The instructions state to use a nickle-sized amount, but because of the high bubble factor, you could get away with a penny-sized amount. The only drawback to using sparing amounts is that the intoxicating natural fragrance dissipates quickly. In short, if you're a mom, or dad who takes pleasure in smelling your children's shampooed hair, follow the prescribed amount. And even then, it seems like the scent does not last long. Isn't there a way to give this fantastic scent some staying power? Also, please note that this is not tear-free.
So what does it smell like? If you're familiar with the ever- so -popular Korean drink, 2%, I can tell you that it is similar to it. It's citrus-y and yet sweet, like peaches. The Bubbly Body wash smells just like it, and the Cool Conditioner is similar, but different because in addition to their mystery TruKid Essential oil blend, aloe vera, and other core ingredients, it has extracts of amica, white tea, and chamomile which are supposed to help promote a healthy scalp. I did notice that it left my kids' hair more shiny and manageable than usual.
The Bubbly Body Wash is also mild and non-drying and my three year old loved all the bubbly foam. The Dancing Detangler was also equally effective and wonderfully smelling. You don't need the detangler when you use the conditioner, but I like that you can use it on dry and wet hair and even at night before you sleep so that your hair is more tame in the morning.
